The Artist

Isabel von Zastrow

Born and raised in East Africa, Isabel is a watercolorist who has always been captivated by the beauty of our natural world. Surrounded by the stunning landscapes and diverse African wildlife of her childhood, she developed a deep appreciation for intricate details and vibrant colors at a young age. From the golden savannas to the lush jungles, every aspect of the environment has served as a limitless source of inspiration for her artwork.

She seeks to share her deep love and respect for Mother Earth, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and marvel at the wonders of the world that surrounds us.

At 17 years old, after growing up in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and the United States, Isabel set out to satisfy her thirst for adventure, embarking on a journey that would take her across continents and oceans. Fresh off the summit of Kilimanjaro, she discovered her love for kiteboarding on the tranquil shores of Zanzibar and her life was forever changed.

For a decade, Isabel chased the thrill of competition and coaching, while traveling the globe in pursuit of experiences, culture, and adventure. From the sun-drenched beaches of Brazil to the windswept coastlines of Vietnam, she pushed herself to the limits, leaving her mark on the world stage, reaching top 3 in the world in kite park riding at the age of 25.

Mixed in with the countless adventures and unforgettably happy experiences, Isabel felt a longing for somewhere to call home. And so, after years of exploring, she found herself drawn to the rugged coastlines and magical desertscapes of Baja California Sur.

It was in Baja, where the desert and mountains meet the sea, that Isabel found the canvas for her soul. Drawn by the rhythmic pulse of the ocean and the kindness of the community, she embraced a new chapter as watercolorist and surfer. With each wave she rides and each stroke of her brush, Isabel finds inspiration in the ever-changing beauty of her surroundings.

“Nature is a reminder of the intricate connections that bind all living things in harmony."
